Legal Counsel, Dispute Resolution (Moscow, Russia)

We, Akkuyu Nuclear, are building and going to operate the first nuclear power plant in Turkey, the Mersin Province. With three offices — in Ankara, on a seashore of the Mersin Province and in Moscow — and with more than two thousand passionate employees of various nationalities, Akkuyu Nuclear has an ambition to generate and supply to the Turkish market 4800 Megawatt using four state of the art Gen III+ PWR nuclear reactors. What to expect The Legal Counsel, Dispute Resolution, will be a member of the Akkuyu Nuclear’s In-House Dispute Resolution team with a seat in our Moscow office, which handles all forms of dispute resolution inclusive of filing lawsuits in courts and arbitration claims and defending against the same as well as advising in-house clients on dispute-related issues. This position does not suggest remote work. What You’ll Do Draft claim and response letters mainly related to our engineering, procurement, construction, technical services and logistics contracts governed by Russian and English law Draft statements of claim and statements of defence Analyse cases including talking to relevant business people, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating timelines Prepare witnesses Manage discovery process including collecting, retaining and producing documents, drafting related written responses Maintain case files and litigation calendar and monitor case dockets File arbitration and litigation documents Communicate with opposing parties, witnesses, arbitration institutions and external counsels Participate in internal dispute resolution intra-group reporting process Develop excellence of dispute resolution process What You’ll Bring Qualification to practice Russian law Excellent knowledge of Russian civil law, civil procedure and arbitration rules of major Russian arbitration institutions Practical understanding of contracts in common law 5+ years of relevant in-house and/or law firm experience handling dispute resolution matters, running construction and related cases Strong organizational, analytical, fact-finding and negotiation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the Russian and English languages, Turkish language being a plus Strong work ethic with a goal-oriented focus Preparedness to work overtime when necessary
