компания "казахстанско-немецкий университет" fellowship positions for green education and science for central asia project description: we seek a highly qualified and motivated individuals with an attitude towards collaboration and multi-and interdisciplinary research to work as a doctoral or postdoctoral researchers in our team. the proposed positions will be embedded within the green central asia project (http://greencentralasia.org/en), initiated by the german government. the project focuses on enabling central asian countries and afghanistan to gain better access to the: (water science and climate change fellowship position) information on the impact of climate change and take preventive measures. the project will foster scientific collaboration, conduct dialogues and capacity building workshops to increase decisionmakers’ abilities to adequately address climate-change-related security risks at the national and regional levels and promote a high-level political dialogue on the nexus between climate change and security. (green energy fellowship position) information on renewable energy sources usage, efficient energy management and find solutions to economic, social, and environmental sustainability. (land use fellowship position) information on the land use problems and taking preventive measures. possible research themes include e.g. land use management, innovations and policy processes, land use for recreation, transport, agriculture and etc. the proposed position will be shared between the dku and the potsdam institute for climate impact research (pik). the successful applicants will be hosted by the dku and will spend up to two months per year at pik. the potsdam institute for climate impact research (pik) addresses crucial scientific questions in the fields of global change, climate impacts, and sustainable development. it is one of the worldchr(39)s leading research institutions in its field and offers natural and social scientists from around the world an inspiring environment for excellent interdisciplinary research. position description: the fully-funded positions are funded for 1 year with a possibility of extension and start in july 2022. the research fellowship will provide scholarships and travel opportunities to interact with the scientific mentor, provided by dku and pik. the research fellows shall also attend scientific conferences and meetings and provide support in the organization of the projectchr(39)s activities of the center and provide support in the organization of capacity building workshops with the frames of the green central asia project. minor moderate teaching support at the unesco chair in water resources management is also foreseen. selection criteria: the selection of the doctoral/postdoctoral fellows will be based on their academic record and the research proposals on the project to be conducted at dku/pik. qualifications: an earned ph.d. or master of science degree in a relevant field (i.e. natural sciences, economics, energy, agriculture, environmental policy etc.) it is expected that the candidate’s ph.d./master degree was granted not more than 5 years before the application deadline; candidate has to be able to develop and manage scientific research, to work effectively both independently and in team; fluency in both written and oral english and russian languages is required; readiness to travel for work (project meetings, workshops, etc.) and take part in design and realization of capacity building training and webinars. the applicants for the water science and climate change fellowship position shall, additionally to the required qualification, have: some programming experience (e.g. python, r, bash.. ) and gis for applicants with natural science background. to apply, an application must include: cv including a list of publications; a brief letter of application that includes the title of the proposed doctoral/postdoctoral project (250 words); a description of a research project to be conducted at dku (3 pages, including references); relevant certificates/transcripts, and contact information for two reference persons.
