Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Linux Applications

Responsibilities: Design and develop new embedded applications running on Ooma platforms for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE); Shepherd new releases into production; Maintain the existing codebase; Contribute to an Ooma platform refresh effort; Work on porting code to new platforms, including system initialization (Busybox-style or systemd); Debug existing applications to find and fix bugs; Collaborate with other engineers in Sunnyvale and at Ooma’s offshore locations: Russia and India and New Zealand. Help to train and support less-senior developers. Required skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; A few years of experience in software development roles; Fluent in "C" programming; Experience in shell scripting; Experience with Embedded Linux (ARM); Must know the tools of the trade: busybox, buildroot, gdb, flash filesystems, NFS mounted root file systems; Proven ability to work with cross-compilers and cross-debugging; Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English; Strong problem-solving skills; Self-motivated type that can work independently.
