The position is based in Saint Petersburg. At Varian we put our customers first. As on-site Field Service Engineer (Proton Therapy) you will have an important role delivering high-quality onsite service to Varian’s customers in Russia, this role is ideal for someone with strong on-site customer support experience from the engineering sector that enjoys customer contact and takes great pride in providing excellent service. You will be joining an existing team of on-site Field Service Engineers at the St. Petersburg site and working closely in a team with Medical services at the customer site. Responsibilities: Provide highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site operation, corrective and preventive maintenance of the proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices Oversee any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems Check out and approve operational quality of system equipment Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system Serve as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects Interpret customers’ needs and clarify if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers May include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking Install and upgrade a wide range of company products according to technical documentation and company guidelines to ensure that customer’s equipment operates efficiently Maintain technical documentation regarding operating characteristics, design factors, technical performance and development of products to improve installation efficiency Requirements: Bachelor degree or equivalent related experience Experience in one or more of the following areas, preferably within medical device environment: Particle accelerators (cyclotrons, LINACs) Diagnostic imaging equipment (X-ray tubes/generators) Power supplies (high current/voltage) Industrial controllers (PLCs) Vacuum systems (roughing pumps, TMPs) Cryogenic systems (Compressors, cold heads) Heavy rotating mechanical equipment Beam optics and tuning of high energy particle beam Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of employees and customers both verbally and in writing Ability to travel for trainings and knowledge exchange Self-disciplined and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks Fluency in English and Russian, both written and spoken Willingness to work shift work pattern environment (including night shifts & weekends) Conditions: Employer provides training programs Shift schedule Salary paid twice a month Meal allowance Transportation allowance Sick leave payment Medical insurance Life insurance A more detailed job description is available if you need to review it further.
