компания "cellar door" we are looking for a senior technical artist for remote work from anywhere. our client, scattershot, is a british gamedev start-up focused on community-driven experiences. guys develop a video game — a competitive first-person shooter, called athena. scattershot is backed by premium games venture capital firm play ventures, named game investor of the year multiple times. release stages vertical slice 1: december 2022 alpha 1: june 2023 alpha 2: november 2023 dream team scattershot is founded by a series of seasoned game and e-sports founders: nikolaj nyholm (founder & ceo), with previous exits to apple and vodafone and was an advisor and board member at mojang (minecraft). most recently was the founder of the legendary counter-strike team astralis and e-sports league blast andrew ritchie (founder & technical director and games lead), has worked on some of the most iconic games and as lieutenant of minh ‘gooseman’ le, a counter-strike legend (who acts as an advisor of scattershot now). mario garcia (art director) brings a unique and distinguishable art style to project athena. mario has worked across movies and games, from netflix and walt disney to king (candy crush) and activision blizzard. chris lütscher (founder & head of metagame) has built some of the most successful product agencies and virtual economy models in europe. there are also 10 employees: 3 developers (gameplay), 3d artists, audio designer, environment artist, concept artist, senior animator. and this is just the beginning as scattershot expands. it is a remote-first team located in the uk, canada, denmark, switzerland, spain, finland, brazil, and georgia. all communication and all meetings with the team will be in english. you need to be able to communicate freely on work project issues and actively participate in discussions, i.e. level b2 and above. guys use a derivative of scrum and extreme programming (xp), operating in two-week iterations. about the role you will be scattershot’s go-to problem solver and a force multiplier for the team, communicating closely with engineers and artists to bring ideas to life. your future tasks build out a technical art strategy for the scattershot game team. bring the shared vision of artists and engineers together. establish tool sets and pipelines utilizing unreal engine. building content creation tools for the team and our community. work closely with artists, technical artists and engineers, agreeing on approaches and work split in the creation of best-in-class 3d content within technical requirements. establish compelling communication channels between tech platform development, technical design and art teams. develop the tech, tools, and pipelines allowing us to innovate efficiently within the character techart space at the highest standards. support the art directorchr(39)s vision through technological solutions and prototyping. we are waiting from you 5+ years of working in the games industry. shipped one or more aaa pc/console game titles (shooters or rpg). unreal engine 4 or 5 experience (c++ and blueprints). a solid grasp of 3d art pipelines. experience in several of these pillars: shading, profiling, rigging, skinning, scripting, optimisation, and procedural workflows. good understanding of optimization techniques (mesh optimizations, image compression techniques, etc.). an understanding of the mod scene and how to work with community contributions. appreciates modularity, reuse, and elegant design. a strong portfolio. a passion for competitive shooters and community-driven games. excellent verbal and written english communication (b2 as a minimum). willingness to attend daily meetings at 5.30 pm cet (gmt +1). it’s amazing if you have additional tech art capabilities (rigging, lighting, procedural content); a passion for performance and optimization. company offers full-time employment or service contract. flexible work schedule, remote work and «no-crunch» policy. visa sponsorship is possible across europe. salary ranges: from €45.000 - €65.000 gross depending on your level. 5 weeks paid vacation, in addition to statutory holidays in your place of residence. esop stock option allotment, on equal terms as founders and other senior employees of the company. paid internet connection. hardware budget (€/$2k pc, €/$500 peripherals, €/$500 screen) renewed every 30 months, software, and whatever specialized hardware and software by trade. gym/sports contribution of €/$500/year. home office fitting contribution of €/$500/year. an annual office-wide ”personal care day” meant for doing something you enjoy; hiking, taking your partner for lunch, going to the movies - whatever will make your day, including a budget to make it happen. freedom under the responsibility.
